Meet the organizer
Hi, I'm Martha.
I've had a heartbeat for this community ever since I moved here, and I do community projects all year long. Organizing them used to mean a lot of scrambling. Now there are tools that make it so much easier, so I built this place to keep it all in one spot.
I've been organizing community projects in Santa Clarita since 2011. This website is new, so the Thanksgiving meals are the first project you'll see here, but they're far from our first. They're just the first since we built a home for them online.
A lot of my projects stay under the radar. But sometimes I take on something I could probably swing on my own, and I know I should ask for help. So here we are.
No money changes hands here
This website never takes payments. We'd love for every project to be fully covered, and whatever isn't, I'm happy to cover myself. But I really don't want to collect money from anyone, or be responsible for tracking it.
Why gift cards instead of supplies?
We gladly accept gift cards to a few grocery stores whenever a project is coming up. When we're doing all the shopping and prep, donated supplies can get tricky. For example, someone kindly brings 10 aluminum trays, but they're a different shape than the ones we already bought. In the kitchen, mismatched sizes make it hard to store, cover, package and move the food. Gift cards let us buy matching supplies all at once, so every meal goes out smooth and ready.
